Tormented At Camp 5

story continues from my previous post....

still on Day 2

at the beginning of route.. can see our face were still very semangat !!! we have to walk for 8.8 km, with our bag pack before we reach Camp 5. Aiya, 8.8 km, "sap sap sui"...
the eggs bearer, carrying eggs enough for 17 of us, for breakfasts and dinners
endless walk....
weather was not nice, drizzling sometimes, heavy down pour sometimes.. however, it was good to walk in the rain rather than hot weather.. at least would not be that exhaustive.
so happy when v saw stream.. water, i need water to refresh...
Look at Md. Nor (student from UUM), soaked his head into water...i wished i can do so...
wei... very tired le... when r v going to reach..
"1 km".. the best signage i have ever seen...i like "1km" !!!
finally, Camp 5 was in our sight...phew...
what a nice view... Richard told us, we have to dip ourselves into the river once we reach Camp 5, why har ?? "coz u r stink !! " *_*'''
yes, this stink attracts BEES !!! true, bees kept buzzing around us...
yet, i didnt dip, water was cold...just washed my limbs there and quickly went for shower before get stung by bees ... :-p
 night time, having our dinner...
oh... the place v r going to spend two nights there.. an opened dorm, shared by boys and girls. v chose the spot near to entrance. 1st, dun wan to pack with the rest of them, 2nd, the air near to entrance is fresher.. inside was stink.. sweat, wet clothes, towels which not thoroughly dried.. yuckkk....
wan to sleep liao... good night.

Day 3

admiring the beauty of natural creation by god not knowing something really tough is waiting ahead despite numerous warnings and advices from Richard.
v were told that, in order to reach the peak of Gunung Api, we need to walk for 2.4 km.. "aiya... a pushover la..."  that was my thought when Richard briefed us about the climb. He insisted that everyone must have at least 3 liters water.. har ??!! v dont have extra water bottle wor... somehow, richard managed to find us an empty water bottle, 1.5 liter..  1L (my own bottle), abt 650mL (sue's bottle) plus the 1.5L, which means both of us, have only 3+  liters of water... apart of that, another drink that saved us (quenched our thirst) was MILO we got it from our miri-mulu flight, which were spared.

i think should be ok kua, since i climbed Mount KK without water.. but then, i realised i was wrong, totally wrong..
besides muddy track, we have to climb up this sheer wall covered with roots
a pit stop after a 900 m walk, at mini pinnacles. at this point, i still spirited...
however, our pace getting slower and when v reached at the next pit-stop at abt 1800m, 11.30 am, , richard told us that v were later than what has been scheduled, thats v cant proceed to the peak, it is dangerous and risky, as the later, the more unpredictable the weather..
HAR ??!!! no i dont care, i would be at most remorse if v have to make our way back without witnessing the pinnacles.. no way !!! after exchanged a few questions with him, i insisted to continue since we are not really that late.. after everyone agreed to take the risk, we continue our journey...

rocky slope, and my legs got scratched by the sharp rocks...ouch, pain !!!
it is impossible to climb mulu and return home unscathed.
scrambled up the man-made ladder, totally 11 of them, each one become more and more punishing as we ascending.

it was here, when v bumped into another guide, their team were descending. The guide kept lecturing richard and us for continuing our climb... "wooi, shut up la.. we are adult k.. we know what v r doing and we have no time to waste.. dont u realise the more u talk, the more v will be delayed la??" of course this only whispered in my heart...
started to sweat and pant.. we sang at certain parts of the trail, but then it was impossible to sing liao, as the gradient of the slope began to steepen
trying to find my footing.. every step have to be wary.. cant afford to make a mistake, even a faintest one. Accident could just happen merely in split a seconds if i slipped...
finally, after all the challenging trails, we reached
wow.... a spectacular one.. wow.. a magnificent one..i wan to scream liao, symptom of euphoria of achievement..
t is worth our effort, to see a landscape that come out from the god's hand, the power of nature..
we only stayed there for about 20 mins. had a quick lunch = sandwich + apple. not much water left in our bottle, therefore, each time we can only take a sip of it has many hundreds meter to cover before v reach the pit-stop, where v kept our last n only bottle of water. haiz...

climbing up was hard, climbing down gave u another hard one.. i actually gave my legs a hearty pat and told them :"pls walk, pls dont fail me."... endless walk and walk and walk.. felt so dejected when i saw the signage indicating another 900m to go, as i thought i have walked quite a distance and should not be far from Camp 5. WTH.. we didnt talk much during which, no energy to talk, particularly dear, as her feet were full of blisters and she was in agony. v walked slower and slower.. "dear, v got to walk faster, the dusk is approaching, or else we really need to walk in the dark with torch liao.."

"300m"... boosted my spirit and erased my dejection...  YES..
sun is setting.. night is falling.. moon is rising..
phew... thank god ! v reached Camp 5 just b4 the sunset

Epilogue of day 3 :

actually both of us were not well prepared for this trip..  were not informed that could be this tough and challenging, and rather not quite well equipped.  for instance, we do not have sufficient water, energy bar & etc.. but fortunately we always travel in bagpack, have all our things in zip-lock bags, have the basic outdoor gears like poncho, salt, swiss-army knife, medicine, sleep bag etc..the itinerary didnt state so... and i thought most probably it would be like the hike the to broga hill...

Day 4

morning on the day 4, while taking our breakfast, dear wrote an essay about our experience and feeling on the guestbook...
a suspension bridge directs to the Head-Hunter Trail
must take pic with this signage, evidence of my visit to here.. he he he..

the only photo with our guide, Mr. Richardson
after came back from Camp 5, we had our shower and lunch at benarat lodge,
snapped this while waiting for van to fetch us to mulu airport

the plane is not here yet.. put on my mp3 and buried myself in the world of reading..
bye bye.. Mulu..i shall not see u again in near future.
the flight back to miri was a bit turbulent and i suffered from motion sickness..
kept asking dear : "where is my milo ?? my stewardess is not going to give us milo liao har ?? can i ask her before i disembark from plane ?? i wan my MILOOOOO !!"
